Mental Health First Aid Training
For a limited time only, Ontario Employers/Employees may be eligible to receive funding to support the cost of staff mental health first aid training. A cost saving of more than 80% may be possible. Employers are taking advantage of this opportunity and applying this fund towards Mental Health First Aid Certification for their staff.
Community Living Huntsville recently had 23 staff certified at a fraction (1/6) of the cost. Individual private and not-for-profit sector employers, First Nations and organizations acting on behalf of employers (ie. chamber of commerce) are eligible and can apply by completing a short application form. Tell me more about the Grant….
The grant provides direct financial support for employers (or consortiums) who wish to purchase training for their workforce. In this grant program, employers choose the individuals they would like to have trained, and the training that meets their workforce development needs.
What is the financial investment for the employer?
Employers must provide a cash contribution towards the cost of training. Some additional flexibility is available for small employers. Small employers (less than 100 employees) are required to make minimum one-sixth cash contributions towards eligible training costs. Large employers (100 or more employees) are required to make minimum one-half cash contribution towards eligible training costs. Where an employer makes the minimum contribution of the eligible training costs, the grant will pay remaining eligible training costs.
Is workforce Mental Health First Aid training eligible?
Yes! In fact, employers in Ontario have been taking advantage of this exciting opportunity. You can too.
Funding proposals can take considerable time to write. Tell me about the application process.
The application process is quick and easy! The online application form will be filled-out by the employer and it will act as the request for funding. The application is 5 pages long and will take about 30 minutes to complete and submit. If the application is approved a participant registration form will need to be completed by each individual participating in the training (again, about 15 minutes to complete). Funding decisions are made and applicants are notified within 12 business days!
